Bodum Assam 4 Cup Tea Press Black 34 Oz. – Bodum 1844-01GVPAmazon.com Review
Who knows more about tea than the British? When the British Tea Council asked Bodum to develop a new way of brewing tea, the result was this unique press that’s almost as much fun to look at as it is to use. Simply fill the strainer with tea leaves and add boiling water–a slow process, but well worth the time. (You could also use tea bags, but why would you want to?) The clear jug lets you see the tea as it’s steeping, allowing you to customize its strength to your taste. When the tea is strong enough, slowly depress the plunger to stop the brewing. You won’t have any tea leaves to read at the bottom of your cup, but there’s no mess and no need to remove the strainer before you pour. But be forewarned: the Bodum press doesn’t retain heat quite as well as a traditional teapot, so you might want to use a tea cozy if you’re not drinking the whole pot in one sitting. It’s a… More >>

  1. I bought this as a gift and never opened it. I am sure she loved it since it was on her gift list.

  2. It is a cheap made-in-China junk. My wife spotted the same product for $10 at Ross.

  3. Nice to have if you are making tea, loose or bagged, for up to 4 people.

  4. I bought this teapot so I could enjoy the Primula tea flowers I purchased at the same time. Since I wanted to see the tea “blossom,” I left out the infuser. It turns out the lid is too small to cover the pot if the infuser is removed; it falls in. Not exactly what I was going for. Leaving the lid off leads to cold tea. A very disappointing product from a well-known name in teapots.

  5. This tea infuser is definitely brilliant, although only in idea. Using it is another matter. First, the fuse basket is poorly designed. I don’t think it gives loose tea enough room to fully brew. Second, the basket itself is very flimsy and extremely hard to stay securely in the pot when pouring. As soon as you reach 90 degrees the basket just falls out. You cannot hold onto the lid to keep it in place as you pour because it is very hot. The plunger is made of stainless steel, making it near impossible to leverage.

All in all, a horrible product.
