I was so intrigued to try the low-cal brownies. After spending nearly $20 for items that I wouldn't ordinarily have in my pantry (artificially sweetened chocolate syrup, egg replacer, stevia) I thought these babies had better be good. But they were really awful. The texture is like a mouthful of cold refried beans - they don't have the crunchy crust or the cakey middle of a good *real* brownie. They smell fine, but the flavor is mostly coffee...and beans.

Seriously - there's no harm in eating real food, just do it in moderation. Tinkering with flavorful food and producing a pale shadow of the original is closer to deprivation than is just avoiding those supposedly "bad" foods altogether.

I love this! Made the Triple Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies today and they were delicious!! Meatloaf was great too! Very encourage that I can still have all my favorites and be healthy at the same time! Will try and stick with the recipes without Splenda for personal preference, but I am very excited to cook my way through the book!

I think everyone can relate to the desire to eat fatty, unhealthy, sugar filled foods! Why? Because they taste sooo good! But, in the long run, these foods will ruin our bodies and prove to be very dangerously unhealthy. That's why I decided to purchase Rocco's new book. If we can eat the same foods we love, get the same great taste, and ingest half the calories, why would we not? So far I have cooked a few recipes from Rocco's 'Now Eat This' and I am so impressed. Fried chicken actually TASTES like fried chicken! But, the best surprise of the book are the brownies. I have always had a sweet tooth, and these brownies taste so good that I might actually pick them over the regular. Knowing I am ingesting only 53 calories per serving, and eating NO sugar and NO flour, makes these brownies unreal. I can eat as many as I want and not feel guilty. I am looking forward to making the other desserts as well as the burger and enchiladas. Thank you, Rocco. This book will keep me looking slim, healthy, and feeling great!

This toaster is five star to me because you can't beat the price and the performance. I am not comparing it to the expensive convection ovens. For an very inexpensive toaster oven you just can't beat the features, the price and the performance. It toasts evenly. It bakes evenly. I tried to bake some Pillsbury Crescent rolls and it did a better job than my regular oven. It has a wonderful timer feature that you can set up to 20 minutes. You can also opt to leave it on in the stay on mode. There are toaster settings. Best to watch the item you are toasting the first few times and know the time for your specific bread. It holds three large bakery style loaf bread slices. It does so much more quickly than the last Black and Decker model I had. The pull our crumb tray feature is a real time saver. Whether I need to cook fish, meat, or heat a hot sandwich, toast, or reheat...I find it incredibly wonderful for the price. THere are small saftey protusions in the back of unit so you keep it the proper distance from any touching surface. What more can I say? If you want a toaster over that is not reinventing the wheel then this is the model!! How can you beat $26.99?! Besides all this it does look nice. It is compact at just 9" deep x 16" long x 8.5" tall. Amazon had the wrong size listed on their site. I bought it from SEARS because they had a much better price.

I don't have major issues with this unit. It came in with the gray powder coated metal cover panel on the front snapped on incorrectly. I was able to loose the screws, bump it up and fix the issue myself. The unit looks very stylish, heats up fairly quickly. My other issues are, 1. There's not much room for your food in the oven. One 6" chunk of garlic bread in, and the bread is almost brushing the top of the oven, made the top of the bread very easily burnt, and center not fully heated. Slicing the bread into half will solve the issue, but if you have a bigger piece, you will probably end up heating it in the big monster oven, and forget about this unit; 2. The metal body gets REALLY REALLY hot with each use. Make sure you do not put anything on top of oven.

My toaster broke after seven years and I wanted a unit that would toast and broil. Didn't need a convection oven. I found this unit and was very happy about the price. It is quite attractive and matches my stainless and black kitchen. The first thing I did after cleaning the unit was make toast. I wanted to see how evenly it toasted. I must say I was quite surprised at how quickly and evenly it toasted. So I'm already a happy camper. The door has a nice size handle. The unit does get hot, but from what I read most toaster ovens do. Will write another review after I've had this for awhile.

Update-2/10/10 I have had this toaster over for awhile now and I am very happy with it! It still toast bagels & bread very evenly. I have put 4 slices of Orowheat bread in it and it still toasted it evenly. It doesn't take as long as my regular toaster did. So I am still a happy camper. The best part is it is not very expensive! Wow to get what you want and not have to pay a high price! Woohoo!!

I rate this toaster oven 5 stars, not because it is the biggest, best toaster oven out there, but because for the PRICE, it's a great mid-size countertop oven, it's very attractive, it has good basic features with easy dials, and toasts evenly and has a good size interior. Amazon ought to carry this themselves and offer free shipping. I actually got mine from a department store this week for a cheaper price (loss leader probably).

That other post with 1 star was kind of bizarre, getting the wrong rack?? Maybe he got a return or something but these come very well packed. A few features I like about this one is the wire shelf is reversible, no surprise there, but turned one way, it has a wire lip that the enclosed tray can slide under attached, which helps during the baking process to catch any overflow drips. Then your baking pan can sit right on top of the rail. I also like the pull out crumb tray from the front, easy to clean and put al. foil. The sides have little hooks that the wire rack can slide into and it pulls out the rack a slight bit when you open the oven, makes it easy to grab your toast. The front handle is screwed in, all very secure. The cord is shorter than most, but I consider this a plus. Most people place the oven right by a plug anyway and too long of a cord gets in the way. It's long enough to pull the oven out to the front of the counter tho if you are cleaning behind, etc.

Black & Decker made a good one with this model.

I just spent about an hour reviewing Now Eat This! 150 of America's Favorite Comfort Foods, All Under 350 Calories, by celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito. As a former chef and avid cook, my passion is cooking healthy and delicious meals. So, it was with interest that I read this book, as I wanted to see how Rocco brought flavor--not calories--to America's favorite comfort foods.

The trick to cooking flavorful, healthy and low calories meals is using--no surprise--flavorful, health and low calorie ingredients and understanding how to combine them to make a dish that satisfies. Using such ingredients is how Rocco achieves this. He uses aromatic herbs and spices that are packed with flavor, for example. Another great substitute that Rocco uses for butter, sour cream or cream is Greek yogurt--yum! If you haven't tried Greek yogurt, you're in for a treat. I substitute it all the time in dishes and don't miss a thing.

Rocco was inspired to write this book after being a guest cook on The Biggest Loser. He was asked to turn traditional comfort foods--laden with fat and calories--into low calorie, tasty and healthy dishes.

The book itself is eye candy--bright, beautiful colors and lots of sexy photos of the dishes.

To keep the calories at a minimum, Rocco uses cooking spray. Cooking spray is great for faux frying and in some other instances, but I would use a bit of extra virgin olive oil in some of the other recipes. Olive oil is a "good fat" and is good for you. Sure, it adds calories, but it also adds flavor and gives the diner the feeling of satiation and satisfaction. (I can't help but believe that some of these meals are so light in calories that they would lead to hunger an hour or so later later and a possible unhealthy binge! For instance, his macaroni ann cheese recipe calls for 4 ounces of pasta for 4 servings!I do not know any pasta lover who could eat 1 ounce of pasta and be satisfied...)

That said, these are terrific recipes if you are trying to lose weight! Instead of the same old boring diet dishes, this book could keep you on track because of the variety in the dishes.

If you just want healthy and tasty meals, this cookbook is still fine. You can always eat a bigger portion or add some olive oil! :)

Overall, I like this cookbook and have earmarked several recipes to try very soon.

We looked at a number of ovens and wanted something that did the basic things and didn't take up too much space. No convection (we have a convection oven) and no digital - its just a basic appliance. We looked at the B&D 240 but this just seemed too basic and too flimsy. Then we saw this one. It has all the basics, it's a good, small size and its silver / black which matches our kitchen. It has 3 controls (as compared to the basic model w/ 2) making it easy to select temp, function and time. The handle is securely attached to the glass door -the metal ends wrap around the glass so it won't fall off (a complaint about other ovens). It has a nice slide out crumb tray that has access from the front with the oven door close - this makes it very easy to empty. Nicely toasted our first bagel in just a few minutes and it was very evenly browned, something our regular toaster did not do well at all.

Pros
Gets hot fast
Basic controls work well
Easy access crumb tray
Even toasting and heating

Cons
Not many
The top and sides do get hot so don't store anything on this!
This bread cutting board is attractive sturdy and everything I was looking for. Infact, it was better than I expected. It looks like part of a zen garden. How can that be?? It's simple, carefully crafted and to the point.

I really love Mountain Woods Bread Crumb Tray - it keeps my kitchen table clean and crumb free when we slice home made bread and clean up is a breeze!

The trivet is a great cooling rack and the bottom makes a lovely serving tray, this product is so versatile and has a permanent place on my table where I store my Mountain Woods Original Fiddle Bow Bread Knife and Mountain Woods Fiddle Bow Cheese Knife Asian Hardwood inside so I never have to look for either knife.

I will be buying lots more from Mountain Woods in the future!

This is a great pressure cooker set. This set is different from the Fagor Duo set that comes with two pressure settings. We do not need different pressure settings, so the set is perfect for us. The 8-qt one is big enough for a family of four. The set is beautiful in 18/10 stainless steel. I love them. I have cooked several meals in it without any problem. I highly recommend this pressure cooker set.

I purchased this cordless electric kettle for my 85 yr old mom who likes to make tea each morning. she can make herself hot water without using a microwave or a stove. after the water boils, it automatically shuts off so there is no worry that a fire will start. this is a peace of mind item for any person. Although, I purchased this same item 12 months ago and it no longer worked as the 'on' button did not remain down to start the boiling. But my mom liked it so much, I purchased this same kettle again.

I immediately fell in love with this set as soon as I opened the box. It is shining stainless steel, very thick and solid. I have used pressure cooker for 15 years. While my old aluminum one is wearing out and I broke another stainless steel one's handle, I have been looking for a new pressure cooker for 2 years. I have searched many local stores. Most are aluminum, some are hard anodized. They tend to wear out quickly. I was set to get a stainless steel one. Finally I bought this stainless steel set from [...]. Most pressure cookers are deep, good for stew and for cooking meat. This set comes with a 4-quart shallow pot which I could easily think of many things I could do with, like rice, stir fry, pancake,....... And it is easy to clean!

Today I cooked rice, it took only 8 minutes, Rice tastes much better than those made without using pressure cooker.

I would give it a 5 star, but the manual is a little confusing. if you haven't ever used pressure cooker before, it'll be hard for you to make certain what the signs on the safety valves exactly mean and when to use. Figure 8 and 9 are particularly confusing and IMO not accurate. I had to use some deduction, along with my past experience to eventually figure it out.

This beater replaces the one shipped w/my new Artisan mixer. I agree w/other reviewers that this should be the beater shipped w/the mixer. After using my cheap, painted beater for a short time - it started flaking! My beater-to-bowl clearance was correct. When I complained to KA, I got an email explaining how to check the clearance & directing me to their overpriced website to buy a new beater. I was not impressed & fortunately, they are not the only place to buy a new beater. KA has slipped in quality over the last several years. I have an old KA mixer (20+ years) that I moved to my weekend house when I got the new Artisan. That beater/mixer is fine & has seen a lot of work.

This uncoated beater has to be hand washed or it will discolor....if they just went back to their old coating formula, we wouldn't have this problem!

I was never happy with the plastic coated beater attachment for my KitchenAid Mixer. The coating started coming off and last thanksgiving it discolored the batter for my cheesecake and cakes. Final straw as the saying goes. I went right to Amazon and bought the burnished aluminum beater, and I'm much more pleased with it. I've used the industrial size mixer with the burnished attachments before, so it was a surprise that kitchenaids home product would ship with such an inferior quality piece. BUT... I LOVE THE NEW ONE!!!

I went back and forth between this burnished beater and the coated one. I used to not like the fact that you cannot put this beater in the dishwasher and that it looks like "raw" metal that would react with the food. However, after having two nylon-coated beater wearing out on me, I decided that I would rather handwash my beater every time than to have nylon chips in my baked goods. Now I use this burnished beater and New Metro Design Beater Blade for KitchenAid 5-Quart Tilt-Head Mixers, Pink depending on the thickness of the dough. Love them both.

I've been using this bread board in my kitchen for years. For all the other neatnics out there, it's the perfect solution. I entertain a lot and every time I use this board, my friends ask where they can get one. I've looked around in local kitchen supply stores and no one seems to be carrying it any more. So when I found it online, I ordered 3 more for Christmas gifts. My friends will be thrilled! Mountain Woods Multi-Purpose Cutting Board and Crumb Tray

Drying stand does a great job of drying the inside of my decanters. I used to dry them upside down on a paper towel, but it took forever and left them vunerable to tipping over and breaking. This safely dries them in no time. For small decanters cut a hole in a plastic lid, set the lid on top of the rack, and insert small decanter upside down through the hole. Hint: when rinsing the decanter use very hot tap water to heat up the decanter. This helps with fast spot free drying.

This is a great stand for drying wine decanters. It is barely visible, the the top of the unit has a rubber cover that both protects the glass and firmly holds the decanter in place. Nudging or pushing the decanter did not cause it to tip over.

Overall this product works well. I love the way the food tastes in a PC. Its healthier then the microwave. I have had some issues with it twice when cooling with water even though I only let the water run over one side, and not near the regulator, or the top of the pan. It was probably just too much cold water at once. I had no problem doing this with my old electric presto. The pressure rose so quick to the top sounded like a train with a roar, it expanded out the sides slightly burning my hands. No I didn't have it too full or foods in it that expanded. I now put a trivet in the sink and set it on that, before slowly turning on the water. I use it often using Miss Vickie's recipes. My biggest complaint would be that I find, with most steel from China it is just harder to clean, and it does scratch, I now use wooden spoons. I found this as well with other pans I recently purchased also. When I bought mine it said it was dishwasher safe, but in the manual it said hand wash the lid. I think I read somewhere its the same grade as an ss exhaust pipe on a car/truck. The outside is a pretty shiny polish although keep a dish towel between the lid & the pan to keep it from scratching. My old stainless steel pans of 25 years did not dull or discolor with rainbow colors. Why do these? I don't want to have to use baking soda or anything else to clean it as others have suggested. That defeats the purpose of a quick meal. If it were in my budget I would have purchased Kuhn Rikon only if, it was not made in China. Having the extra small pan is convenient for smaller amounts of food. The extra deep insert is nice feature also. I use the insert when blanching vegetables, its makes it easy to lift all vegs out at once. Its a little hard to tell when the pressure is high enough or regulate on a electric stove. The pop-up button is when to start the timer, even though no steam is coming out of the valve and thats when you turn the temp down. I wish they would make a Stainless Steel electric PC like the old presto's.

When I received a new KitchenAid mixer last year, one of the Artisan series, I knew I needed to get an extra beater for those times when I did a lot of cooking and baking. I quickly found that it was almost impossible to find a white-coated replacement beaters for this model. My only choice was this burnished flat beater. While it fits the mixer and bowl, it is NOT dishwasher-safe, a big drawback when it comes to clean up. I stuck it in the dishwasher anyway when I was in a hurry, and the beater came out discolored with white spots all over it. Big mistake.

Yes, it is sturdy. And yes, it fits. But it does not have the same durable finish that the original beater has and that KitchenAid has been using for decades. I wish KitchenAid had given me a choice to buy the traditional white replacement or this one. I finally bought a second beater from a different manufacturer: New Metro Design Beater Blade for 5-Quart KitchenAid Tilt-Head Mixers, White

Although it looked good, and although I was careful to select the beater specific to my model of the KitchenAid Stand mixer, I was very disappointed that the beater I was sent does not fit my mixer.

It is entirely too short to reach down to the bottom of the mixing bowl.

I love these pots and pans! They are nice and heavy with tight fitting lids, a fun color and seem like they will last for years. I'm glad I read the previous reviews, tho. I was for warned not to leave them on high heat, since they could fuse with my smooth cook top. That being said, I agree with another reviewer, I used to burn more stuff by starting out on high heat! The only down side for me was that the glass lid's handles do get a little hotter than I expected. Not that big a deal- just use a pot holder.

The two stars are not for the performance of the product, but for not being made in Spain as described. The package says made in China, and I returned the product due to that. If you have no political or possible quality reliability reasons to stay away from Made in China products, then this may not be an issue, but I would have liked the description to be accurate.

These are seen throughout Europe and Canada, especially at bed and breakfasts, but Americans are unfamiliar with it. It's user friendly and heats water up extremely fast, no waiting around. I'm glad to have found this and now my daughter wants one too!

After years of twisting towels and inserting them in decanters to get out the moisture from rinsing them, I am thrilled to have this drying stand. It is a very simple design, but the benefits are huge. We are now decanting our wines, young and old, whenever we open a bottle. The stand is perfectly balanced, too.

I owned this set years before and one of the pots broke! I searched for a replacement never to find it. But here at amazon there it was! A new set with 4 pots! I still have the old frames so now I own four! These butter warmers are so cute and so great to have. They make seafood dinners so special everyone has their own clarified lemon-butter sauce for dipping. And the tools are an extra bonus. They work well and I'm very satisfied with the product.

My parents were very impressed with the look and feel of this cookware.
Some of the glass lids have a strainer for draining vegetables or whatever. The pots are not too heavy, yet don't feel cheap by being too
light. Very nice!

Well made with two ramekins for butter and two for another sauce. The meat picks are a little slim, but will do the job! Comes with two tea lite candles too! ready to go! I haven't tried the crackers yet, but they look pretty sturdy. I guess it depends on the size and strength of the shells whether they will break. I wish they would have added a spring to make them open back again.

Here are the "Use and Care" instructions on the label:

"Before use, wash with hot soapy water. Season pan with a solid or spray vegetable shortening before each baking use". There is nothing on the label to ensure these pans are dishwasher safe, but I'll just have to assume that they are.

Non-coated aluminum pans by Nordic Ware are the best pans I've ever had, and the lids make them even more convenient. I already have other sizes and I expect the half-sheet to perform just as well.
UPDATE November 2009: Still washing in the dishwasher, still fine.

The shape and size are very pleasing to the eye. The handle could be a bit wider as the cups are somewhat heavy and difficult to hold with fingertip when full. For the price they are a good buy. They stack well for storage.

This wine rack looks really nice, installs easily and takes up virtually no space with its under counter design. Installation took about 5 minutes with a cordless screwdriver and 6 provided screws. The front-to-back fit is fairly snug, so if your cabinets have any of those plastic stapled in support brackets you will have to remove/move them first.

Another great kitchen item. I like that the tongs are coated in silicone so I can use it on my good cookware without scratching the finish. They are a great size and they are easy to use with the locking mechanism.

They just do everything right. They won't scratch, the handles don't slip or get hot, you can unlock them with one hand, they won't melt, they are well made.

Great item! The silicone is great quality, as are the metal of the tongs. I like how they close securely at the top. They are much improved from the last set of tongs I bought years ago.
