I received this as a Christmas gift. After a few minutes of just looking at the questions, we just had to play a game. A lot of the questions prompted funny answers, some of which happened to be correct. I really like the diversity of the questions, as well. A serious foodie might have difficulty with some of them, while others are easy enough for just the casual player.
The quality is very high for a board game as well. The cardboard is good and thick, so nothing is likely to bend or tear unless someone really abuses it. The individual pieces you receive for answering a correct question can be sized a little off, depending on which board they were originally cut from, but that’s a minor thing, and if you have one that doesn’t fit, just grab another. I definitely like the fabric bag they come in. It’s much nicer than the typical plastic, or nothing at all, that you get with most games.
All in all, if you like food and you like games, I would highly recommend Foodie Fight.
Outstanding game! I purchased this as a gift for my fiancee – who is a hardcore foodie. The categories are diverse and even the non-foodie will enjoy playing. In fact, the non-foodies in our family seemed to do better at the food in movies and TV questions! And some of the question were advanced so even the foodies were challenged! Lots of fun!
My wife and I enjoy playing this food trivia game, which test one’s knowledge of a broad range of cooking-related topics including cooking ingredients, celebrity chefs, restaurant service, and wine selection. When you play you learn new things in a fun-filled way. Particularly valuable are the questions on table etiquette, culinary science, and nutrition. However, the questions are uneven in level of difficulty. Some of the tough queries concern such items as a French chef, a little-known food author, an obscure movie, or a lesser-known type or style of food. This is compensated for by a substantial number of true or false and multiple choice questions. The popular culture questions can be deceptive or just plain difficult, but answers are often within the realm of knowledge of the average person.
A good thing about the game is that it does not come easy for the winner. There are six categories, and the player who gets three questions correct in all six categories fills his six cardboard dinner plates and wins. Answering a question correctly means another turn. However, players who get a question in a category they have completed must still answer the question correctly to get another question, hopefully in an uncompleted category. Therefore, a player who gets ahead often finds other players will quickly catch up. This provides the sort of end-of-the-game competition that everyone will enjoy.
This game is just so much fun! My friends and I are all foodies and we play this game at least twice a month. Sometimes we just sit around and read the questions to each other. If you enjoy cooking and eating, you’ll love this game! I have learned a lot by playing! AND it’s a great gift… Reasonably priced and unique!
